Digital Age is the final pattern released for my Time on my Hands e-book. These fingerless mitts combine traditional latvian braids with an encoded binary message. The shaped thumb gusset and contrasting bind offs pull the whole thing together. You can favorite and queue them on Ravelry. This pattern is included only in the book as a bonus to knitters who buy the whole collection. So it’s not available on its own.

The colorwork in the cuff is binary code. It reads “Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero,” which translates to “Seize the day, trusting as little as possible in the future.” Because of the length of the phrase it’s embedded in the cuff just once, so you’ll want to pay careful attention to the chart since there’s no predictable repeat.
The pattern is written in two sizes: 6.5 (8)”/16.5 (20.5) cm cuff circumference with charted colorwork. These mitts are knit in Schaefer’s Chris in Ash and Green Apple. You’ll need 134-172 yards of the MC and 84-99 yards of the CC.
You can see, and buy, the rest of the e-book collection here. The whole collection is $18, which breaks down to just $2 per pattern!
