Honored

Stacey over at Knit Picks (yes, that knitpicks) gave me a shout out this week. In fact she’s suggested you nominated me in the About.com Reader’s Choice Awards.

I’m completely floored and feel very honored. I don’t know how me and my knitting projects (and my chickens) earned this. It’s a good thing this is a blog so you can’t see me blush. If you’re interested in voting I would be even more honored. Maybe I could be convinced to post embarrassing pictures of me blushing bright red or something…

Updating

I’ve been updating stuff! Specifically patterns, but also my website! If you’re reading through an RSS feed you should come by and check it out! I have a new layout and pretty new headers. The main page still contains the blog content, but now I have columns on the right where you can find quick links to some featured knitting patterns, online magazines I like, other blogs I read, my twitter feed (in case almost-daily updates just aren’t enough!) It’s all very exciting*.

You should also check out the links at the top of my site. From here you can find more details about all my patterns. I’m working on creating dedicated pages for each one**. The dedicated pages have been going up as I finally get around to re-doing the PDF layout for each one.

In the last two days I’ve redone the layout for ALL FOUR patterns with the Knit Picks IDP program. I’m not changing any content on these patterns, but I’ve been redoing the charts, schematics, and in some cases even the photos:

I’m doing everything I can so the patterns are clearer and easier to use. With the update to these PDFs I’ve also made them available through Ravelry. So if you’ve always wanted the Jay hat (or White Clovers, Amidon, or Foote Brook) in your ravelry library now you can have them – and at the same great price as on the knitpicks website. The new PDFs will be available there too, shortly…

*well exciting to me anyway. I think Neil’s eyes glaze over when I show him these things. But he’s very good and tries to be interested in all of it…

**I’m almost done too, I just have the two freebies and the long-neglected Currants hat pattern.

New favorite color?

When I was a kid purple was my favorite color. As I got older I switched to blue, and in college I decided green was better. I appear to be trending towards earthier and earthier colors. Why? Because today I decided this is my new favorite outfit.

new favorite outfit

Brown. With a little russety, garnet red. I think my new shoes really pull everything together.

(I’m also a big fan of browns and greens, or browns and blues.)

autumnal again

Yesterday I got a haircut!

haircut back

Maybe you can’t tell, it’s still pretty long. I cut 8″ off wednesday night, as a donation for Pantene Beautiful Lengths.* Then I went to the stylist and told her that I liked my long hair, I just wanted more style in my hairstyle. She managed to take my vague mumblings and made my hair much more cute, and exactly what I wanted. I’m very pleased! Since I didn’t change my style I’ve taken it upon myself to point out my new haircut to people because they won’t notice otherwise. Call it fishing for complements if you want, I don’t mind!

I love how the dividers in our new cubicles are exactly the right height for photos of myself!

Today is so beautiful out I took my new sock in progress out for a walk.

Don’t laugh, I can knit ribbing and walk at the same time at least as well as those people on their smart phones can type/surf/read and walk at the same time. I know because I saw at least 4 of them out walking too.

*My preferred hair donation charity. Locks of Love only does wigs for permanent hair loss, Pantene does wigs for cancer patients. Also Pantene’s donation program is better funded, and more clear about both their goals and what they can and can not accept. I have nothing serious against Locks of Love. But they are a very small organization frequently overwhelmed by donations they can not use, and there’s a lot of confusion about their mission.

Link back

I just wanted to note that this is a continuation of my older blog which can be found on LiveJournal.  I finally decided to upgrade to a more independently style blog, one that I could even have on my own domain if I decide to someday.  But if you’re looking for older posts click this link not the one above.

Also note that this blog is mirrored back onto LJ so all the posts here can be seen there as well.  Feel free to comment here, there, or anywhere!  But again, this link if you want to pick up at the older posts that didn’t originate from this blog site.
